Mazamitla, Jalisco
From Guanajuato we drove to Mazamitla, Jalisco. The distance is about 180 miles (290 km). The route leads past Irapuato, then via Mex 90 through La Piedad de Cabadas to Mex 15D, via Mex 15D to La Barca, south on Mex 110 to Jiquilpan de Juárez, then west to Valle de Juárez and Mazamitla.
In Valle de Juárez, near Mazamitla, we had a great stay at Hacienda Contreras. As always, Sal and Barb Contreras were wonderful hosts. They led two hikes - one to the top of nearby El Picacho, and entertained the guests at campfires on two different nights.
