Ready For Mexico?

Ready for Mexico

We're off to Mexico next week. Everyting's packed and were ready to go.

Or are we?

It's worth taking a last look at the new edition of Traveler's Guide to Mexican Camping to make sure. We do it, you should too!

Here's a checklist of things to review:

Do we have the latest version of Traveler's Guide to Mexican Camping? The fourth edition was issued this fall and there are a lot of changes. You can easily buy it on Amazon, there's a link to do so at the top of the left column.

Have I picked a good destination and route? There are a number of great itineraries outlined in Traveler's Guide to Mexican Camping, 4th Edition starting on page 21. And there are are complete descritions of places to go and the nearby campgrounds throughout the book.

Is my rig properly equipped for Mexican campgrounds? See the discussion in Traveler's Guide to Mexican Camping, 4th Edition, page 40.

Do I have the right Credit and Debit cards or a strategy to get cash when I need it? See the discussion in Traveler's Guide to Mexican Camping, 4th Edition, page 43.

Am I prepared to treat the water so that it is safe to drink? See the discussion in Traveler's Guide to Mexican Camping, 4th Edition, page 43.

Have I stocked up on my favorite foods? Almost everything you'll need is now available in Mexico. But there are still a few things that are hard to find. See the discussion in Traveler's Guide to Mexican Camping, 4th Edition, page 51.

Do I have the right maps? See the discussion in Traveler's Guide to Mexican Camping, 4th Edition, page 54.

Is my vehicle properly prepared and do I have necessary spares? See the discussion in Traveler's Guide to Mexican Camping, 4th Edition, page 54.

Do I have the proper documents for crossign the border and traveling in Mexico? See the discussion in Traveler's Guide to Mexican Camping, 4th Edition, page 69.

Do I have Mexico vehicle insurance? See the discussion in Traveler's Guide to Mexican Camping, 4th Edition, page 73.

Do we have the latest updates to Traveler's Guide to Mexican Camping? Even the newest book has a few changes. Take a look at them now and print them out. Then continue to check them frequently as we travel Mexico. They are constantly updated on this website.

In fact, right now it's important to take a look at the discussion of driving the Michoacán Coast, referenced to page 197 in the updates. There have been some problems in this region and driving the route or camping in the area may not be a good idea.

Yep, looks like we're ready.

See you in Mexico!
